Privacy Policy

Minimum is a utility app that helps you look up the state-minimum price for spirits. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Minimum is operated by Josh and Company LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
We built Minimum to be minimal, and that extends to data. There are no accounts and no sign-in — we never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or a password, and we don’t process payments in the app.
Information We Collect
Information you choose to send us
The only information you actively provide is the text of a bug report, if you choose to submit one from the app. Whatever you type in that form is sent to us so we can diagnose and fix the problem. Please don’t include sensitive personal information in a bug report.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, we collect a limited amount of usage and device information through the services described below:
- A random device identifier. The first time you open the app, it generates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is not derived from and not linked to your name, email, or any account, and it is used to group analytics events and to accompany a bug report so we can follow up on it.
- Usage and interaction data. We record in-app events such as launching the app, viewing screens (catalog, favorites, about), switching or downloading a state catalog, viewing a product, selecting a size, and favoriting a product. These events may include details like the selected state, the product name, type, and tags, the app version, and whether the build is development or production.
- Device and technical data. Our analytics and advertising providers automatically receive standard technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and IP address (which is used to infer only an approximate, coarse location such as country or region — we do not collect precise GPS location).
- Web session activity. If you use the browser-based version of Minimum, our analytics provider may automatically capture interactions during your session, including session replay, to help us understand and improve how the app is used.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or payment information, and the app has no user accounts to sign in to.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the price-lookup service, including downloading and displaying state catalogs.
- Understand which features, products, and states are used so we can improve the app.
- Diagnose, reproduce, and fix bugs you report.
- Display advertising that helps keep the app free.
- Maintain the security and reliability of the service and comply with our legal obligations.
Analytics
We use a third-party analytics provider to collect the usage and device data described above so we can understand how Minimum is used and improve it. Events are associated with the random device identifier rather than your identity. On the web version of the app, the provider’s autocapture and session-replay features may be enabled. These providers process data on our behalf and maintain their own privacy policies.
Advertising
Minimum may display banner advertising through third-party advertising partners to support the free app. We request non-personalized ads only, which means ads are based on general context rather than a profile of your interests. Even so, an advertising partner may still process device information for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregate reporting, and fraud prevention, in accordance with its own privacy policy.
You can further limit ad personalization through your device settings — for example, iOS’s tracking controls and App Tracking Transparency, or Android’s “Opt out of Ads Personalization” and advertising-ID reset.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or with third parties for their own marketing. We share information only in these limited ways:
- Service providers that operate the app on our behalf, including third-party analytics and advertising providers, cloud hosting for our catalog data and API, and the tools we use to receive and respond to the bug reports you submit. These providers may only use the information to perform services for us.
- Legal and safety reasons: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, the data described here may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will note any change in how it is handled.
Data Stored on Your Device
To work offline and remember your preferences, the app stores data locally on your device, including your favorites, your selected state, your theme choice, cached state catalogs, and the random device identifier. This information stays on your device and is removed when you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
Data Hosting and International Transfer
Our catalog data and bug-report service are hosted with cloud infrastructure providers in the United States, and our analytics and advertising providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Data Retention
We keep usage and analytics data only as long as it is useful for understanding and improving the app, in accordance with our providers’ retention settings. Bug reports are kept as long as needed to investigate and resolve the issue. Data stored on your device persists until you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
Your Choices
- Reset or remove on-device data. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app removes your favorites, preferences, cached catalogs, and the random device identifier. A new identifier is created if you reinstall.
- Limit advertising. Use your device’s ad and tracking settings to further restrict ad personalization or reset your advertising ID.
- Contact us. You can email us to ask questions about your information or to request that we delete data associated with your device identifier.
Children's Privacy
Minimum provides pricing information about alcoholic spirits and is intended for adults of legal purchasing age. It is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
Third-Party Links
The app and our website may link to sites or services we don’t operate, including advertisers’ destinations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Changes are effective when posted, so please review this page periodically.
